Or, how my favorite movie of all time inspired me yet again.
Anyone who knows me most likely knows about my obsession with Rocky Horror Picture Show. I first saw it in high school, and I’ve been an avid fan of the cult classic ever since.
I’ve always been a fan of musicals and quirky things, so RHPS combines basically all my favorite things, including Tim Curry.
I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen the movie, and if there’s a CD playing in my car, it’s likely the soundtrack. Like I said, I’m obsessed. Moving on.
I love everything about the movie and soundtrack, but something hit me the other day when listening to the song “Rose Tint My World.” It’s one of my favorite songs, and now I love it even more after letting this line fully sink in:
Don’t dream it. Be it.
So simple but also pretty powerful.
I’ve sang this song countless times over the years, but for some reason, it really struck me when I was driving home from the library one day.
Yaaaaaaaas.
So many times we get caught up in our dreams, what if’s, any number of possible occurrences that may or may not ever happen.
How much time do we waste worrying about things we can’t control or avoid doing things that may just be our passion or life calling?
What lights you up and gets you excited about your future and your dreams?
Because, after all:
What’s something you’ve been dreaming about? How long have you been dreaming about it? How long do you want to keep dreaming before you do something about it?
It’s time to stand up and be our dream. Take changes. Make some mistakes. Just try! And also, do you. Because obvi.
Who knew a 70s movie about a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania with campy music, costumes and characters could contain such a major life lesson?
Also, Tim Curry is everything and I love RHPS gifs. That’s all.
