Hello everyone! Today’s post is about my summer foundation routine. I have combination to oily skin, so I get drier skin in the winter and oilier skin in the summer. Because of that, I have to tweak my foundation routine when the weather changes because my skin reacts differently. The process was a bit of a trial and error, so I thought I’d share what’s been working for me at the moment to keep my face matte all day. And if you have any recommendations, feel free to share those down below!
NYX Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray
After washing my face, using toner and applying moisturizer, I spritz this all over my face. Then I normally start doing my eye makeup to let this spray fully soak in and dry before applying my foundation. Once all my face and eye makeup is on, then I liberally spritz this all over my face. I think it does help prolong the longevity of my makeup, and it just feels nice and refreshing.
Boots No. 7 Beautifully Matte Make Up Base
I first heard about this primer on beautypedia.com, which is a great resource for skincare and beauty products. I picked this up at Target a few weeks ago, and I think I’ve figured out how it works best on me now. Since I have combination skin, I get some dryness around my nose and chin areas, so I just don’t use primer there. This product is pretty thick, but it dries very quickly and easily when rubbed in.
Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin in the shade Ivory
I just recently discovered this foundation, and so far I really enjoy it. I like how they had two different lines of this product, one for combo/dry skin and one for combo/oily skin. Most foundations are kind of take it or leave it as far as who the product will work for, so I thought this was pretty cool. This doesn’t dry right away, so I normally wait a little while before applying powder, but it blends very nicely and easily into the skin. It’s medium coverage, and it’s very buildable.
Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in the shade Transparent
This powder is really great for setting both undereye concealer and foundation. I apply this all over my face, and then I follow up with the NYX setting powder. This is a great powder, and it lasts pretty well throughout the day.
Sometimes I also touch up with my NYX Blotting Powder in the shade Light during the day if it’s pretty warm outside, but other days I don’t even feel the need to touch up.
